Casting and Auditions
Casting is currently under way for the London production of The Book of Mormon. We recently ran a poll on our site asking you who you wanted to see on stage when it opens next Spring. Whilst 64% of you want to see the original Broadway Cast reprise their roles onstage, over a third of you would like to see a brand new and original British cast at the Prince of Wales Theatre. The original Broadway cast included Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad as Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, and now they have both left the production at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre could it be possible they will be joining us on this side of the pond?
The Book of Mormon auditions have been held over the past few weeks for leads and ensemble. According to Twitter, Tony Award winning Musical Supervisor/Director Stephen Oremus has been in London as part of the audition process. As with official protocol, there has been no ‘open call’. Agents have had to submit actors according to the official casting breakdown. It is then the job of the casting director to decide which actors will be invited to audition for each of the roles. Only when everyone has been seen and the casting directors have come to a decision with the production team that contracts can be drawn up and then the full cast revealed to the public. It is not known when official casting announcements will be made, but it is thought the news will be revealed in time for tickets to go on sale in September 2012. Pre-sale preview tickets are on sale already by clicking on the tickets page above. Make sure you are the first to see this fantastic show!
Who would you like to see play these iconic roles? Which West End stars would best deliver ‘I Believe’? Should it be an unknown or does it need to be a big name? According to our poll, only 2% of you would like to see a celebrity in the role, and 1.2% want a reality TV style search to find the potential stars.
